MEASURING GUIDE

How to Measure the floor

Measure the length and width of the room and multiply the answers to give the square metereage. For example 8m x 2m = 16 square metres.

Now measure the width or length of any areas not to be tiled e.g. Under the bath and take this measurement away from the total floor area.

How to measure the walls
Measure the height of the room and mutiply it with your floor measurements, you should have four answers
1. Width of floor x height (wall 1).
2. Width of floor x height (wall 2).
3. Length of floor x height (wall 3).
4. Length of floor x height (wall 4).

To deduct radiators and doors, measure each items width and height and deduct it from your total area.

At Pentagon Tiles the computer can calculate how many tiles you will need from your square metreage. To order let us know the square metreage you require and Pentagon Tiles will tell you how many tiles you will need.

Tips:

Use a tape measure that is longer than the length of your room
Always use the same units eg. centimetres

Decide which areas are being tiled e.g. floor, wall, window sills, under the bath/toilet

It is easier to tile without bathroom furniture in place

Have your pen and paper ready to write down accurate measurements

Make your notes using 'l' for length, 'w' for width and 'h' for height

Draw a simple sketch of your floor plan and 4 walls, use graph paper

If you are tiling the area yourself remember if you are using the same tile on the floor and walls you will need different adhesive.
